Performance of Tomato Hybrids Arka Abhed and Arka Samrat in Visakhapatnam District of Andhra Pradesh, India

The farmers of Visakhapatnam district were in a great need best performing and high yielding tomato variety as the existing varieties are less yielders highly succumb to pests diseases. An On-Farm Trial (OFT) for three consecutive years (2020-21, 2021-22) was conducted by ICAR- ANGRAU, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kondempudi directly farmers’ fields five selected villages viz. Bangurumeta, Adduru, Thotakurapalem, Pottidorapalem, Jaithavaram Chedikada Andhra Pradesh evaluate performance two very promising hybrids Arka Abhed Samrat with regard yield economic analysis vis practice Laxmi. A total twenty-five actively participated OFT covering an area 7.5 acres. As regards fruit yield, hybrid proved be followed Laxmi all study yields 587.32, 569.13 409.14 q/ha, respectively. During trial, improved from 27.44 30.33% 24.57 28.11%, Average cost-benefit ratios Abhed, 1:2.30, 1:2.16 1:1.58, Extension gap between 111.18 183.86 129.08 202.83 q/ha Results on Technology Index 15.25, 19.47 28.83% (farmers’ practice), Samrat, respectively, revealed that both hybrids, there is viability demonstrated technology surrounding areas north coastal Pradesh.
